How to write header for college paper

College essay headings may vary according to the writing style. However, most institutions follow and accept the general guideline in the application process. Thus, page headings should be placed in the upper left-hand corners of pages. Follow the below heading format in your college essays. The header’s first line should include your name.

When using this style on a written paper, do not skip lines in between the four lines of the initial heading. Your heading on subsequent pages should consist of your last name followed by the page number in a right justified format. Other paper formats you might use in college can include American Psychological Association (APA) and Chicago Style.

In an MLA format, the date is written in the form of numeral format, month in the written format and then year. An example of this would be “2 September 2018”. You would then create double space after the last line of the heading, and place your heading in center as the title of the paper in the next line.

On every page in the header, you are supposed to write your last name along with the page number in a right justified format. This way, every page would show your last name and page number. Continuing with the MLA format, the heading should be placed in the upper left-hand corner of the page.
